Rotary District 9214, encompassing Uganda and Tanzania, is set to host its 99th District Conference and Assembly from Wednesday, April 24, to Saturday, April 27, 2024.

The event will take place at Speke Resort Munyonyo, heralding a gathering of Rotarians and Rotaractors from diverse clubs within the district.

Under the leadership of District Governor, Francisco Ssemwanga and District Rotaract Representative, Prudence Asobola, the conference serves as an annual cornerstone for celebrating achievements, exchanging ideas, engaging in workshops, and fostering fellowship among participants.

Themed "Hope Uniting Hearts," the 99th District Conference and Assembly will welcome over 1000 delegates, providing a platform for discourse, learning, and friendship.

Thomas Tayebwa, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, has confirmed attendance as the guest of honor for the event.

Speaking about the conference, the chair of the organizing committee, Rotarian Christine Kawooya also the District Governor Nominee said the conference itinerary features speeches from distinguished speakers, presentations showcasing community service projects, the acknowledgment of outstanding clubs for their exceptional contributions to Rotary's mission and most importantly the handover of power to the next leadership of the district.

On his part, The District Governor and host of the conference Rotarian Fransisco Ssemwanga said: “The District Assembly, a vital component of the event, serves as a training ground, offering education and guidance on various facets of Rotary governance, leadership, action plans, and administrative procedures.

"This educational aspect aims to equip Rotarians and Rotaractors with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead their clubs effectively and engage in district-wide initiatives.”

Regarding other activities, Rotaractor Prudence Asobola, the District Rotaract Representative informed the public that “This year and for the very first time, the conference will among other activities include a blood donation campaign that will run throughout its duration.

"This is in line with the conference theme of Hope Uniting Hearts, as Rotarians and Rotaractors will donate blood to ensure its availability in times of emergency, hence providing hope.”

The 99th District Conference and Assembly is sponsored by; Centenary Bank and Quality Chemical Industries Limited (Qcil) lead as platinum sponsors, with additional support from valued partners such as Events WareHouse, MTN Uganda, Uganda Breweries, and Stanbic Bank.
