A Democratic Republic of Congo government official says 50 people have died in a boat accident in the remote northern region of the country.
Richard Mboyo Iluke, the vice governor of Tshuapa province, told AFP: "We found 49 people Wednesday and another one this morning."
Another vice governor told Reuters that about the same amount of people had survived the mishap.
Deadly boat accidents are common in the DRC.
