Named the Euro Cranes, the annual football tournament aims at providing a platform for Ugandans in Europe, off their always busy schedules.

Commenting about the tournament, the deputy head of Uganda’s mission in Copenhagen, Amb Simon Ajiku said the embassy will always engage in activities aimed at promotion of the country abroad.

“We seek to mobilise diaspora for economic transformation of Uganda. We do it through engagements by reaching out to them, providing consular services and answering their questions on need for government support. Because of this, the number of remittances by Ugandans in diaspora has always gone up. These funds help support their families and their businesses back in Uganda. They in turn contribute to national development in the country,”Ajiku said.

He noted that by supporting activities like the Euro Cranes tournament, the embassy not only seeks to bring Ugandans in the diaspora together but also help carry the country’s flag high in the foreign land.
