Health experts and activists have warned the government against vaccinating children without consent of their parents, saying it is a crime against humanity.
They said vaccination of children against Covid-19 might compromise their herd immunity and expose their bodies to danger.
Speaking during a weekly virtual meeting at Town Hall, Dr Clara Wekesa, a physician and the chairperson of Medics for Faith Association, said, the children are less likely to have severe infection for covid-19 and that their recovery rate is as high as 99%, and hardly require hospitalisation.
They called on the government to take the clause on compulsory vaccination and the resultant penalties out of the Public Health Amendment bill, and instead focus on increasing public awareness about vaccines and vaccination.
Recently, the Ministry of Health said it had finalised plans to roll out the vaccination of school-going children across the country against Covid-19.
Under the arrangement, the Ministry plans to vaccinate the learners with or without their parents' consent.
Wekesa noted the idea of vaccinating children should be dropped as soon as possible.
"They present normally with asymptomatic infections, their recovery rates are as high as 99 percent, and hardly require hospitalisation. So they wouldn’t be a target population that you would seek to institute mass mandatory vaccination. I would not consider them a vulnerable group," Wekesa said.
She explained that the death rate for children has been reported at less than 1% and many of them have had the opportunity to develop natural immunity which is more robust and long lasting.
"So we fail to see the justification for mass vaccination for this age group, especially when you also consider the serious side effects which are largely unknown since we are dealing with gene therapy," she noted.
John Taylor, the founder for Free the Children -Save the Nation platform based in South Africa, said children have strong natural immunity and that It makes no sense to vaccinate them.
"Their actual immunity is robust and sufficient to stop them from becoming sick. If somebody wants to do an experimental medical procedure on you and they don't give you the opportunity to give full, proper, non-coerced, informed consent then it is a crime against humanity," said Taylor.
Taylor said, the whole idea of mandatory vaccination aims to enslave people and impose medical tyranny on the people – and we should fight it.
Eric Ssenyonjo, a medical entomologist wondered why the government is moving towards amending health related laws to impose fines and jail terms for those that will not respect vaccination mandates.
