Ministry of Agriculture Denies Goat Deal, Points to Finance Ministry

The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry in Uganda has denied involvement in the procurement of allegedly malnourished goats at inflated prices. Minister Bright Rwamirama clarified that the project initially fell under the Ministry of Finance, highlighting their non-involvement and past investigation into the matter.

While defending the project's necessity for improving goat breeds, Minister Rwamirama emphasized awaiting the investigation's outcome before addressing any revealed issues.

Member of Parliament Christine Kaaya expressed concerns about the lack of proper analysis regarding the country's needs and ecosystems before such procurements. She criticized the government's failure to understand national requirements and questioned the suitability of the imported goats, fearing for their survival.

The revelation of the Finance Ministry's involvement adds another dimension to the ongoing controversy, attracting continued public attention.
