NAVIO, FLEX D’PAPER UNVEIL CLUB-READY ANTHEM “AMNESIA”

Ugandan hip hop pioneer Navio has teamed up with rap heavyweight Flex D’Paper for a high-energy new single titled “Amnesia,” a vibrant release that blends nostalgic hip hop influences with contemporary Afro-dancehall rhythms.

Built around an infectious, old-school-inspired beat layered with modern bounce, “Amnesia” is crafted for the dancefloor. The track celebrates carefree nights driven by music, movement and self-expression — moments that begin with intention and evolve into unforgettable memories. Sonically, it bridges eras, pairing classic drum patterns with bass-heavy, club-ready production.

Navio delivers the bulk of his performance in Luganda, adding cultural depth and authenticity to the record. His melodic flow glides smoothly over the rhythm, showcasing his versatility and continued evolution as an artist. Flex D’Paper anchors the song with a commanding, sing-along hook that gives the track its anthem-like appeal.

Production on the single is handled by Bangar Boi, one of Uganda’s most consistent hitmakers. His approach merges retro hip hop elements with contemporary sonic textures, resulting in a warm yet energetic sound designed to resonate in clubs, festivals and large-scale live settings.

Visual storytelling across borders

The official music video, directed by acclaimed East African filmmaker Sasha Vybz, expands the song’s nightlife theme into a visually dynamic experience. Shot across the bustling urban landscapes of Kampala and Nairobi, the video captures neon-lit streets, rooftop gatherings and high-energy club scenes that reflect the region’s vibrant youth culture.

The production features cameo appearances from notable entertainment figures including Maurice Kirya, Bien and Nviiri the Storyteller, among others — reinforcing the song’s cross-border appeal and East African cultural synergy.

Defining season for Navio

The release of “Amnesia” arrives at a significant moment in Navio’s career. Following the success of his live orchestra experience at the Serena Hotel last year — a groundbreaking showcase that fused orchestral arrangements with hip hop performance — plans for a second edition are underway.

Industry insiders describe the forthcoming “Navio x Season 2” as an ambitious cultural production set to elevate the original concept. The show is expected to blend live instrumentation, storytelling, fashion and heritage elements into a large-scale celebration of Ugandan identity and artistic innovation.

Fresh from international performances in Addis Ababa, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Navio continues to expand his regional and global footprint, reinforcing his status as one of East Africa’s most influential hip hop exports.

With “Amnesia,” Navio and Flex D’Paper deliver not just a club anthem, but a statement of creative evolution — one that reflects the growing global resonance of Ugandan hip hop.
