The Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested 100 suspects in a series of coordinated security operations aimed at ensuring a safe and secure Easter holiday.
According to police spokesperson Racheal Kawala, the intelligence-led operations were conducted on the night of April 1, 2026, between 8:30 PM and 3:00 AM across various parts of the Kampala Metropolitan Area.
In Entebbe, operations in Kasenyi and Nakiwogo led to the arrest of 23 suspects. In Mukono, a total of 36 individuals were apprehended during operations carried out in Kawoola, Katoogo, Takajjunge, and Kubiri.
Old Kampala Division registered 24 arrests following operations in the New Taxi Park and Kakajo, while Katwe Division arrested 14 suspects in St. Augustine Zone. In Kira Division, 11 suspects were picked up from Mulawa, Kitukutwe, and Kiwologoma in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.
Police also recovered several exhibits during the operations, including dry marijuana leaves, rolled sticks, and fresh plant materials, among other items believed to be linked to illegal activities.
“All suspects are currently in custody pending court proceedings,” Kawala stated, adding that such operations will continue throughout the Easter period to enhance public safety.
The intensified crackdown is part of broader efforts by the police to deter crime and maintain order during the festive season.
