Police in Adjumani District are investigating the sudden death of a Special Polling Constable applicant who passed away during the ongoing recruitment exercise held at Paridi Stadium, Adjumani Town Council.

The deceased has been identified as Solomon Obudra, aged 34, a resident of Angwarapi East Village, Dzaipi Subcounty, Adjumani District.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., during the physical fitness stage of the recruitment process.

Confirming the incident, The North West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson, Collins Asea, said the recruitment team had been conducting interviews and physical fitness assessments for applicants seeking to serve as Special Polling Constables.

“The victim, along with other applicants, underwent document verification before proceeding to a physical exercise session as part of the recruitment process. The group, consisting of over 1,000 applicants, participated in a two-kilometer road run through Adjumani Town,” Asea said.

He noted that Obudra completed the run successfully but collapsed shortly after returning to the recruitment center.

“He was immediately rushed to Adjumani General Hospital for medical attention, assisted by his brother, who was also participating in the exercise,” Asea added.

Despite efforts by medical personnel, Obudra’s condition deteriorated, and he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:00 p.m. on the same day.

The incident was later reported to Adjumani Police Station by the deceased’s brother on Friday, November 7, 2025, at around 11:00 a.m., prompting the opening of a death investigation file to establish the exact cause of death.

Asea further confirmed that the body has been transferred to Adjumani General Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations continue.
