Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda has enrolled 16 employees into the fourth cohort of its Frontline Leadership Development Programme (FLDP), as the beverage company steps up efforts to strengthen internal leadership capacity and succession planning.
The six-month programme, launched in 2022, targets high-performing employees from different departments and is designed to prepare them for supervisory and management responsibilities through practical leadership training.
Company officials say the initiative is part of a broader strategy to build a stronger talent pipeline while improving collaboration and operational efficiency across the business.
Speaking during the launch of the latest cohort, CCBU Human Resource Director Catherine Gita said the company views employee development as central to long-term business sustainability.
“The programme is intended to equip employees with the confidence and skills required to take on leadership responsibilities and contribute more effectively to the organisation,” she said.
Participants undergo training focused on communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making, with an emphasis on applying leadership skills in day-to-day operations.
One of the employees enrolled in the programme described the initiative as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and develop a more solutions-oriented approach to work.
As companies increasingly compete for skilled labour, firms across Uganda’s private sector are investing more in workforce development and internal training programmes aimed at retaining talent and improving productivity.
CCBU says the FLDP has also helped encourage cross-functional learning and knowledge sharing among employees since its introduction nearly three years ago.
