Glovo Uganda, in collaboration with the Haba na Haba Food Bank, is leading a critical initiative to tackle food insecurity across Uganda’s most vulnerable communities, distributing over 345,000 meals since March 2024.
This initiative has successfully recovered surplus food, which, along with generous contributions from local traders, is redistributed to those in need.
The collected items are meticulously sorted and prepared for distribution by Glovo to various NGOs and families in need.
The partnership has enabled Haba na Haba Food Bank to expand its reach, accessing more markets and delivering essential food supplies to an increasing number of communities through monthly donations that support food rescue operations.
“Since the inception of this partnership, we have delivered 172,541kilograms of food, translating into 345,082social meals that directly support families in need. Each month, over 62,000 meals are delivered, reflecting our ongoing commitment to community welfare," said Ivy Wangui, the General Manager Glovo Uganda.
Daphne Kabeberi, Impact & Sustainability Lead for Africa at Glovo, added, “Through our ecosystem, we provide free logistical support to NGOs, ensuring that essential social meals are efficiently delivered to those in need. This collaboration underscores our commitment to leveraging Glovo’s resources for impactful community initiatives across Africa.”
Glovo through its Glovo Access initiative has played a pivotal role in this regard, providing free logistics for NGOs and ensuring that essential goods, including meals, reach those who need them most.
In 2024 alone, Glovo Access has delivered about 3 million meals, streamlining operations and significantly enhancing our impact in the cities where we operate.
