How to know if your car suspension needs to be checked

Look out for these signs that your suspension needs repairs.

1. A Rougher Ride than Normal

A suspension problem could result in a bumpier ride and a driving experience that's not so enjoyable. If you think that you're feeling every slight change in road conditions, your suspension might need some repairs.

 

2. Dipping Forward When Braking

If you hit the brakes and feel your car lurching forward and down, that's usually a sign that your suspension needs to be checked out. Our mechanics will take a closer look at components like the shocks, which could be worn out.

3. Drifting or Pulling to the Side

You were used to how your car feels when you make a turn, but now something is off. Your car drifts or pulls to one side now, which could mean that your shocks and suspension are not working as intended.

4. Failing the Bounce Test

Put your car in park and subject it to the “bounce test.” Press down on the front of the vehicle and press down on the front with all of your weight. Bounce it a few times and then release it.

If your car bounces more than two or three times, that's a sign of suspension issues.

5. Uneven Tire Wear

A suspension problem could also cause the tread on your tyres to wear down at an uneven rate. If you notice this issue, get your suspension fixed as soon as you can so that you don't end up shortening the life of your tires.
