Govt moves to set up environmental court

The Ministry of Water and Environment is in negotiations with the judiciary to set up an environment court.

The court will see a wide range of appeals that will be lodged to it.

According to Dr Barirega Akankwasa the Executive Director National Environment Management Authority, the court will specialize in environment cases.

The cases it will handle will include giving enforcement orders to those causing nuisance or environment problems  and giving appropriate dispute resolution as well as ordering investigations and giving solutions.
