The suspect apprehended.

Police have apprehended Ashraf Kiiza, the man seen in a viral social media video attempting to murder businessman Sam Turyamuhaki. The attack occurred on Monday, May 12th, at a maize mill in Nateete.

Kiiza, a former employee of Bashir Mill Investments, allegedly entered the cash office where Turyamuhaki was counting money. Armed with a panga and a hammer, Kiiza demanded the money from Turyamuhaki. In a courageous act of self-defense, Turyamuhaki confronted Kiiza, sustaining injuries to his head and right hand during the ensuing struggle.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyanga, Kiiza will face attempted murder charges. Onyanga also urged caution, advising people to avoid moving large sums of money without security due to the potential risk of attracting criminal activity.

Following the incident, Kiiza fled to his parents' home in Rakai District. However, police were able to locate him and make the arrest. Bashir Ssekiwunga, Director of Bashir Milling Investments, confirmed that Kiiza had been employed by the company for four months.
