Ndejje University has once again asserted its dominance in university sport after a commanding performance at the 20th Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) Games, emerging as overall champions with an impressive medal haul.

Guided by discipline, teamwork and faith, Team Ndejje demonstrated consistency and resilience throughout the competition, holding their own against some of the strongest universities in the country.

The Lions amassed 17 medals, including 10 gold, four silver and three bronze, a return that placed the university at the summit of several sporting disciplines and underlined the depth and strength of its sports programmes.

Hosts Uganda Christian University (UCU) finished first runners-up with 18 medals, while Makerere University placed third with 17 medals. Kampala University followed with 11 medals, Kampala International University (KIU) collected eight, while Bishop Stuart University, ISBAT University, Muni University, Soroti University and St. Lawrence University failed to secure a gold medal.

Among Ndejje’s standout performances was the ladies’ table tennis team, which clinched gold after a thrilling final against KIU. The mixed bridge team was equally dominant, topping the round-robin stage to secure gold, while the men’s team earned silver following a closely contested final against UCU.

Ndejje also excelled in athletics, karate, swimming and wood-ball, disciplines that consistently delivered podium finishes and significantly boosted the university’s overall medal tally.

Speaking after the games, Ivan Drake Karimunda, Head of Games and Sports at Ndejje University, attributed the success to thorough preparation, teamwork and strong institutional support. He noted that the team drew inspiration from Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
