Six of the seven players unveiled by Hima Cement Heathen Rugby team at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds

The 2018-19 Uganda Rugby Premier League champions Hima Cement Heathens rugby club has unveiled seven new players ahead of 2019-2020 season.

The seven new stars were unveiled Thursday evening at the Heathens hosting Venue Kyadondo rugby club.

Aaron Ofoyrwoth, Scott Olwoch, Jamil Nyango, Musasizi Boaz, Oyet Joseph, Innocent Gwokto Thomas, Victor Wangobo who have joined the champions.

The players will be put to test this weekend when they face off with Makerere Impis at the graveyard in Makerere in the Rugby Uganda Cup.

The Heathens are the Nile Special Premiership Rugby champions for the Season 2018 -2019, while we were finalist second in the Uganda Cup 2018.

During the unveiling ceremony, team Captain Michael Wokorach said that he is confident that with new signing the 2018-19 champions will put up a good show next season. “As the club, we welcome new players on board, we are confident that with new boys on board our team has gained more strength and we are looking forward to next season,” Wokorach said.

Heathens wrapped up 2018-19 season with 80 points, followed by Kobs on 77 points. The Kyadongo based beat Dusupay Warriors 18-13 at Kyadondo Rugby Club to win the Nile Special Premier Rugby League 2018-19 season.

The Heathens are the Nile Special Premiership Rugby champions for the Season 2018 -2019 and finalist second in the Uganda Cup 2018-19.

During unveiling ceremony, the Hima Cement marketing Manager Christine Kyokunda revealed that as title sponsors of the team, they are happy to see Heathens grow in strength.

We are happy to see the Heathens have brought new players on board, as sponsors, the team makes us proud and we are hopeful that it make the rugby game more enjoyable next season, ‘ Kyokunda said.

The Uganda Rugby Premier League is expected to start in November one week after Rugby Uganda cup which will end in November 2019.
