Youth who have completed their studies have been urged to leverage the knowledge and skills acquired during their education to create jobs, tackle unemployment, and uplift their communities.

The call was made by Maggie Kigozi, who served as chief guest at the 23rd graduation ceremony of Kampala University, held at the institution’s main campus in Ggaba.

More than 3,500 students graduated in a wide range of disciplines, including medicine, journalism, agriculture, accounting, business, education, media, and film.

Addressing the graduates, Kigozi emphasized the importance of self-reliance, innovation, and adaptability in a competitive job market.

“Use the knowledge and skills you have acquired to create jobs, earn a living, and provide opportunities for others who are unemployed,” she said.

Kigozi, who heads the Uganda Investment Authority, noted that this year’s graduation theme focused on advancing technology through Artificial Intelligence (AI). She encouraged graduates to embrace entrepreneurship and become job creators rather than job seekers.

“Do not discriminate when it comes to jobs. Be open to opportunities because success comes from willingness to explore different paths,” she added.
