“This milestone is a testament to Uganda’s growing industrial capacity and our commitment to adopting sustainable, homegrown solutions. It sends a strong message that Uganda is not just participating in the future of mobility—we are helping to shape it,” the Authority noted.

The integration of the electric buses into UCAA’s operations, particularly at Entebbe International Airport, is expected to enhance staff mobility while reducing carbon emissions and reliance on fossil fuels.

The move aligns with Uganda’s national development priorities, including the promotion of local manufacturing under the Buy Uganda, Build Uganda initiative and the country’s long-term environmental goals such as achieving net-zero carbon emissions.

As Uganda continues to invest in science, technology, and innovation, this milestone underscores the country’s emergence as a leader in sustainable transport and industrial advancement in Africa.
