Echodu Pledges Shs10m as UMA Teso Holds Annual General Meeting
Soroti City West MP-elect and National Vice Chairman for Eastern Uganda, Calvin Echodu, pledged UGX 10 million to the UMA Teso SACCO and promised a benchmarking trip to India as doctors gathered in Soroti to review performance, elect new leaders and discuss healthcare challenges.

Soroti City West Member of Parliament-elect and National Vice Chairman for Eastern Uganda, Calvin Echodu, on Saturday joined medical professionals at the Annual General Meeting of the Uganda Medical Association Teso Chapter held at Soroti Hotel in Soroti City.

The meeting brought together doctors from across the Teso sub-region and other parts of the country under the Uganda Medical Association to review their performance over the past year and elect new leaders to steer the association forward.

Members also discussed challenges facing medical practitioners and explored strategies to improve healthcare delivery in the region.

While addressing the gathering, Echodu commended doctors for their dedication and service to communities, especially amid limited resources.

He acknowledged the critical role health workers play in strengthening Uganda’s healthcare system and improving patient outcomes.

In a show of support, Echodu pledged Shs10 million towards the UMA Teso Chapter Sacco to boost the financial welfare of its members.

He said empowering doctors economically would enhance their stability and motivation to serve.

Beyond the financial contribution, Echodu also pledged to facilitate a benchmarking visit for selected doctors to China and India to enable them gain exposure to advanced medical technologies and best practices in healthcare management.

He emphasized that such international engagements would help improve service delivery in Teso and Uganda at large.

Echodu further committed to advocating for policies and mobilizing resources to support medical practitioners in the region and across the country.

Doctors at the AGM welcomed the pledges and expressed optimism that stronger partnerships with leaders would help address key challenges in the health sector.
