Mubende officials arrested over PDM

Police in Mubende District have arrested the one Alex Asiimwe the Chairperson For Parish Development Model in Butayunja Parish Kayebe Sub-county Buwekula South Constituency Mubende district following several complaints from locals accusing him of bribing money for registration.

The arrest comes after the meeting held by the Deputy RDC for Mubende Abubaker Birungi at Butayunja Village where locals informed him that the entire Committee for PDM in their sub-county has been collecting money between 200000 to 300000 as registration fees to access Parish Development Model funds.

Last Month, a group of residents from Kayebe Sub-county stormed the RDC's office with concerns of bribery from PDM officials in their sub-county which forced him to organise the meeting on the ground.

Jennifer Taaka one of the residents told the RDC that she was asked for Shs3000000 to be registered but unfortunately she never received any single coin for Parish Development Model.she also Pinned Alex Asiimwe the PDM Chairperson, Jacklyn Kyampire the Secretary and Buwembo George the Parish Chief who has been continuously collecting money from locals backed up by several locals.

Out of the 3 accused only Alex Asiimwe attended the meeting and when given a chance to respond on the complaints he dismissed all the allegations saying he never asked Money from locals.

The deputy RDC Abubaker Birungi immediately ordered police to arrest him saying that he is going to serve as an example to those who defaults government programs.

He also ordered the Butayunja LCII Mutabaazi Geoffrey to elect a new Parish Development Model Committee to avoid such circumstances as he warned those on a run that they are to be arrested anytime.

Mubende district is comprised of 19 sub Counties and 79 parishes. So far the district has received UGX 8,497,688,338 of which 8.196B has been disbursed.
