Wealth Creation
Museveni told the gathering that despite the development achieved, there is need to focus on creating wealth for themselves.
Giving examples of successful members of society, in other districts including Abim , Museveni said it is possible for everyone to get out of poverty by embracing the government message of wealth creation by starting small.
He urged them to make use of government programs like Parish Development Model and Emyooga to create wealth.
“For example, Emma Lokong from this area got shs1 million in PDM and used part of the money to rent land and planted crops and got 14 bags that he took to Soroti market. From the money he bought four pigs and when I visited, he was having 35 pigs. This is the third point of the NRM contribution to Uganda. "
"Lokong who was not employed himself is now employed and employing five other people. This is from commercial agriculture. Through this we can create wealth. Get out of the thinking that jobs are only in government. If you get a leader talking like that, know he is asleep."
Nakapiripirit’s 35 parishes have received shs10.5 billion and shs10.3 billion has been disbursed to 10,338 households.
The district has a total of 26,984 households.
