A new breakthrough in women’s health is set to transform how vaginal dryness is treated, offering renewed comfort, confidence, and dignity to millions of women globally—especially in underserved settings like Uganda.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared LivRing, an innovative intravaginal insert developed by J3 Bioscience, to provide up to seven days of hormone-free relief from vaginal dryness.
The ring functions both as a lubricant and a moisturizer, addressing a condition that affects up to 60% of post-menopausal women and countless others across different age groups.
Unlike messy, short-lived over-the-counter gels or hormone-based treatments that pose potential health risks, LivRing delivers a steady release of glycerine, saline, and water, maintaining vaginal moisture without disturbing natural pH or requiring daily application.
It contains no hormones, fragrances, or irritants—making it suitable for a broad range of users, including women who avoid hormone therapy due to health or religious reasons.
“This product is a direct response to what women told us they needed,” said John Fair, President and CEO of J3 Bioscience.
“Fast-acting, long-lasting, hormone-free, and no prescription required. LivRing offers real control and comfort.”
Clinical findings are promising: users reported a 64% reduction in pain during intercourse and a 71% boost in sexual confidence after four weeks of use.
In Uganda, where access to discreet, safe women’s health products remains a challenge and stigma continues to surround reproductive wellness, LivRing could fill a critical gap.
Its weekly application offers privacy and ease of use, allowing women to reclaim their comfort without needing regular visits to a health facility or the burden of daily reapplication.
LivRing is now available online without a prescription, opening the door for more women—including those in remote and rural settings—to take charge of their intimate health on their own terms.
