Bugerere Leaders Provide Relief Support to People Living with HIV/Aids

Leaders in Bugerere County have extended relief support to people living with HIV/Aids, in an effort to restore hope, strengthen community support systems, and improve the quality of life of affected individuals.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Second Deputy Mugerere, Patrick Mugerwa, involved the distribution of essential items including food supplies, clothing, and basic medical support to patients and their families.

In addition, Bbaale Health Centre IV received a consignment of medical supplies to support ongoing patient care.

The leaders said the intervention was not only aimed at addressing immediate needs but also at restoring dignity and confidence among people living with HIV/Aids, many of whom continue to face stigma and discrimination.

Speaking at Bbaale Playground in Bbaale Town during an event held after the Kabaka’s Birthday Run, officials noted that stigma remains one of the biggest barriers to effective HIV response in the area.

They called on residents of Bugerere to embrace compassion, promote inclusivity, and support ongoing awareness campaigns aimed at preventing new infections and improving treatment adherence.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, saying the intervention had renewed their hope and encouraged them to continue with treatment and daily life. Many said the assistance went beyond material aid, reminding them that they are not alone.

Leaders also urged the public to prioritize regular HIV testing, adhere to treatment, and adopt preventive measures to reduce new infections.

They reaffirmed their commitment to working with health partners to expand support programs and strengthen sensitization efforts across the county.

The initiative aligns with broader national efforts to combat HIV/Aids, reduce stigma, and ensure that people living with the condition lead healthy and dignified lives.
