The First Lady, Janet Kataaha Museveni, has described her husband, President Museveni as a 'strong pillar'  in their family, Uganda and the African continent.

Kataaha made these remarks in her birthday message to the husband who turned 76 years today.

Kataaha said: "Thank you for your unwavering support as the pillar of our family, your enduring love for Uganda, the region and this great continent. May God reward your sacrifice and may He bless you abundantly."

The First Lady who also doubles as the Minister of Education and Sports said Museveni has always been a 'torchbearer' in their family and Uganda at large.

"You are and have always been a torchbearer and you have always done it with wisdom, compassion, wit and incredible humour. A very blessed 76th Birthday @KagutaMuseveni," she added.

The president and his First Lady have expressed consistency in putting aside their busy schedule to throw in a feel-good message on each other's birthdays over the year.

On June 24, President Museveni described his wife as a 'rock' in his birthday message to her.

President Museveni, on December 27, 2017 signed into law, a bill that removed a presidential age limit of 75 from Uganda's Constitution.

The president would have not been eligible to contest in the forthcoming 2021 general elections, if Parliament had not lifted the age-limit which had been set for 75 years.
