The second deputy Prime Minister Kirunda Kivejinja has advised Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine to go slow in his quest for power.
Kivenjinja who was chief guest at Bugiri Municipality MP Asuman Basalirwa victory party at Busoga University (Bugiri branch) playground on Saturday said when the time comes, the old guard shall hand over power but no one will push them.
In reply to Kivejinja, Kyagulanyi said nothing is going to stop them in their quest to have the youth take over the leadership of the country.
Kyagulanyi arrived in Bugiri at 5PM amidst fears that he could be arrested. Earlier police had advised that the victory party be called off because it did not have enough manpower to guarantee security.
But Basalirwa, the main celebrant insisted that the party will go on. And it went ahead without incident.
Kivejinja used the occasion to advise Kyagulanyi to go slow in his quest for power.
"I support the youth to engage in politics. Even us when we started engaging in politics when we were youths. But this has dire consequences which I doubt you can handle," Kivejinja counselled.
He revealed that they (old guard) are willing to hand over at the opportune time.
"We are looking around. We know we have grown but we have to find someone who is suitable to take power peacefully and leave a stable country," he said.
But Kyagulanyi insisted that the old guard should start thinking of handing over peacefully to the youths.
"As the old guards you have a role to play and your role is to accept that their time is up. You have to give power to the young generation," Kyagulanyi said as the gathering ululated.
