The villages of Lwamba, Buyisa, and Kakondo in Kyotera district were ravaged by heavy rains, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in their wake.

The downpour, which began at 6am on Thursday, escalated into a fierce storm, unleashing its fury on the unsuspecting residents.

Tragically, Michael Waliggo, 80, a resident of Kakondo village, succumbed to the relentless onslaught of nature as the roof of his home collapsed while he was sleeping.

According to residents, Waliggo's life was tragically cut short on the way while rushing him to Kalisizo hospital for medication.

Survivors recount harrowing tales of as they grapple with the aftermath of the disaster.

The once-thriving crops, vital to the livelihoods of many, lay decimated in the storm's wake, compounding the anguish of an already beleaguered populace.

Houses, once symbols of shelter and security, now stand as hollow shells, stripped of their former glory by the merciless forces of nature.

"We do not know what to do now because all our crops have been destroyed," a resident said.

Residents have called upon the office of the prime minister to offer support and assistance to those in need.

The Buyisa Parish chairperson, Deogratious Muwonge, said: “As the community mourns the loss of one of its own and rallies to support the injured and displaced, the echoes of the storm serve as a sombre reminder of the fragility of life and the resilience of the human spirit.”
