St. Francis School of Health Sciences in Namataba, Mukono, joined Catholics across the world in celebrating the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi on October 4, a day that honors the life and legacy of one of the Church’s most revered saints.
The colorful celebration was graced by Rev. Fr. John of God Masaba, head teacher of St. Charles Lwanga Secondary and Vocational School Malongwe, alongside other members of the clergy.
Delivering the homily, Rev. Fr. John God of Masaba implored students to put the knowledge and skills they acquire into practice, urging them to uphold ethical values in the communities they will serve after their studies.
He emphasized that education should not only focus on academics but also on wisdom and integrity.
Fr. John further appreciated the founders of the institution for their sacrifice and vision in establishing the school, which continues to shape health professionals for the future.
The clergyman also reminded students not to prioritize money over service, advising them to embrace their professions wholeheartedly and treat patients with compassion and dignity, regardless of their social or economic status.
The Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, marked every October 4, commemorates the saint’s humility, love for creation, and service to humanity values the school hopes to instill in its students as they prepare to contribute to the health sector.
