Saudi Muslim Scholars Arrive in Uganda for Religious Engagements
This is a special occasion for the Muslim community in Uganda to benefit from one of the world’s most distinguished scholars

A delegation of prominent Muslim scholars from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has arrived in Uganda for a series of religious engagements and knowledge-sharing activities with the local Muslim community.

Led by Dr. Sheikh Mohamed Aly Chinqutty, the delegation touched down at Entebbe International Airport where they were received by the Second Deputy Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, and other officials from the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC).

The visiting scholars include Al Solami Mobaraka Doheki, Mohamed Ahmed Al Asaad, and Alahmad Abdullah all recognised figures in Islamic scholarship and propagation.

Following their arrival, the scholars were escorted to the UMSC headquarters in Old Kampala for a formal welcome ceremony.

Today , Dr. Sheikh Chinqutty is expected to deliver the Friday sermon at the National Mosque, an event anticipated to draw thousands of worshippers.

In addition to the sermon, the delegation will engage in an interactive session with Imams from across the country as part of their knowledge exchange mission.

Speaking to reporters, Sheikh Badru Khatwaib Lukalamuko, Chairperson of the organizing team, praised the head of the delegation as a leading figure in Islamic da’wah (propagation), urging Muslims to attend Friday’s sermon in large numbers.

“This is a special occasion for the Muslim community in Uganda to benefit from one of the world’s most distinguished scholars,” Sheikh Lukalamuko said.

After completing their engagements in Uganda, the delegation is scheduled to continue their regional tour with visits to Rwanda and Burundi, where similar programs will be conducted.

Present at the welcoming ceremony were several UMSC officials, including Hadjis Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi, Secretary General; Dr. Sheikh Ziyadi Swaleh Lubanga, Director of Sharia; and Sheikh Imran Ssali, Secretary for Religious Affairs, among others.

The visit is part of broader efforts to strengthen religious ties and promote mutual learning between Islamic institutions in Uganda and Saudi Arabia.
