Rev. Byamukama's departure from the Church of Uganda in 2021 stemmed from disagreements with the leadership of Kizinga Archdeaconry where he was serving as the lay reader within the Diocese of Kigezi, Kabale District.

He cited harassment from the leaders at Kizinga Archdeaconry for his advocacy of Christian rights within the Church of Uganda as the reason for his transition to the Reformed Anglican Church.

“The reason why Anlican reformed has been extended to kabale one is doctrine that include holy communion, for us we commune everyone," Byamukama said.

"We are also fighting against the habit of corruption and extortion of money from Christians to the extent that some of the Christians have started to fear from going to church, yes offertory is among our services but it should not be the focus.”

Asked if the Reformed Anglican clChurch of Uganda won’t cause contradictions, Byamukama said they are ready to face any contradictions that will come on their way.

He said their faith is legal.

Archbishop Kyangasha urged Christians to lend overwhelming support to ensure its growth, with the aspiration of eventually elevating it to a Diocese.

Although the roots of the Reformed Anglican Church trace back to 1789, its formal registration in Uganda occurred in 2019.

Currently, Reformed Anglican Church of Uganda has been extended in Fort Portal, Kumi, Arua and our neighboring country Rwanda.
