Tusker Cider turns up the festive as Meatings bids 2025 goodbye
Each edition has shown us just how powerful food, music and good energy can be when they come together intentionally. December was about celebrating that connection, thereby dialling up the flavour, the fun, and the festive spirit to close the year on a high

Kampala slid smoothly into the festive season on Saturday, December 20, as Tusker Cider brought Meatings to life, transforming Gazebo Grill in Najjera into a vibrant, warm and electrifying playground of flavour, sound and connection.

The final Meatings edition of the year captured the true spirit of celebration, as revellers enjoyed carefully curated music sets alongside a wide selection of meats, all expertly paired with Tusker Cider’s blended flavours.

From the moment guests arrived, the mood was unmistakable. The smoky aroma of slow grilled muchomo filled the air, drawing people toward open grills where chefs from Ribs & Mo showcased their craft. Flame kissed cuts, in house sausages, ribs, meat skewers and chicken made up a refined food pairing menu that celebrated Uganda’s deep love for barbecue in a bold yet elevated way.

Each bite was complemented by refreshingly crisp Tusker Cider serves and well crafted cider cocktails, offering a perfect balance to the richness of the meats. The pairings were deliberate, encouraging guests to discover how the cider’s light, fruity notes enhanced the depth of the barbecue flavours.

As plates filled and glasses clinked, music took control from afternoon into the night. DJs Khurk, Mary Jo, Heydez and the legendary Sir Aludah delivered seamless sets that flowed from laid back Old Skool hits to Afro beats and high energy Amapiano anthems, while MC Guhi kept the crowd lively, playful and fully engaged. The rhythm spread across the venue, turning the outdoor space into a buzzing social hub.

Stylish chill zones, colourful backdrops and open lawns created the perfect setting for interaction and expression. Guests arrived dressed to impress, adding character to an already vibrant environment.

Between food and music, outdoor games sparked laughter, friendly competition and easy conversation, reinforcing what Meatings is known for, genuine moments shared over good food and great music.

Speaking during the event, Mercy Atwongyeire, Premium Beer Project Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited, reflected on the evolution of Meatings throughout the year.

“Each edition has shown us just how powerful food, music and good energy can be when they come together intentionally. December was about celebrating that connection, thereby dialling up the flavour, the fun, and the festive spirit to close the year on a high,” Mercy said.

Long after sunset, guests remained gathered with cider in hand, immersed in the music and the mood. As the final tracks played and the night slowly wound down, Meatings delivered exactly what it promised, a seamless blend of taste, connection and unmatched energy, carrying Kampala from daylight deep into the heart of the night.
