If there was ever a doubt that the Ugandan music scene is undergoing a renaissance, Saturday night at the Ndere Cultural Centre put it to rest.

In a collision of culture, high-energy Afro-pop, and refreshing innovation, Joshua Baraka’s maiden concert, B’raka Land, set a new standard. And right at the heart of this cultural reset was Bell Citrus, ensuring the night was as refreshing as the sounds from the stage.

From the very first step into B’raka Land, the Bell Citrus relaunch unfolded as an immersive experience. Guests strutted down a custom walkway framed by a vibrant citrus backdrop, snapping photos at an interactive mirror photobooth, while sampling bars around the venue ensured the refreshed brand became both the first taste and the first photo of the evening.

As the amphitheatre filled with fans, the stage was warmed up by the raw, unfiltered talent of Uganda’s upcoming and underground scene. Performances by Ricky Odrey, Aijuka, and Kamanzi served as the perfect appetizer—proof that the future of Ugandan music is in safe, fearless hands.

When Etania took the stage, anticipation for Joshua Baraka reached a simmer. A brief blackout suddenly engulfed the amphitheatre. In that breathless pause, the stage erupted in a burst of light, and a high-energy Citrus dance troupe stormed forward—signalling both the arrival of the King of B’raka Land and the official rebirth of Bell Citrus.

Baraka connected instantly with the crowd, weaving through songs from his earliest Baby Steps era to his freshly released Juvie. One of the night’s defining moments came mid-set when he lifted a pitcher, prompting the fans to raise their Bell Citrus bottles in a communal toast to a new era.

For Bell Citrus, this relaunch was nothing short of a declaration of intent.

“We promised ‘Flavour with a Zest,’ and the energy here is exactly that—young, vibrant, and refreshing,” said Lillian Kansiime, Brand Manager for Bell Citrus.

“Joshua Baraka represents what this drink stands for: innovation and a fresh new twist. Thank you all for supporting Baraka and Bell Citrus as we bridge our classic heritage with a modern, zestful experience.”

The night honoured the past while confidently paving the way for the future. Surprise collaborative appearances from Maurice Kirya, Mun G, Big Trill, A Pass, and Isabel Twongeirwe—artists woven into Baraka’s musical journey—added to the celebration. The grounded star paused to thank his mother for his roots, and his fans and sponsors for their unwavering support as he continues to grow and evolve.

As Baraka bowed off stage, the Ssese Nation DJs took over to close out the night. Yet the echo of the cheers and the lingering zest of the experience refused to fade.
