Now in its third edition, the RLSD Africa Talent Leather Design Showcase is a collaboration between the Leather & Hide Council of America (LHCA) and the Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI).
The initiative champions slow fashion and responsible material use while celebrating outstanding African design talent.
Over the past five years, this global campaign has engaged more than 7,500 students from 720 universities across 48 countries, fostering innovation and promoting leather as a sustainable alternative to fast fashion.
The showcase is more than a competition—it is a movement shaping the future of fashion.
By highlighting leather’s beauty, versatility, and durability, it encourages designers to embrace sustainability while redefining craftsmanship.
Through education and mentorship, participants gain insights into ethical practices, equipping them with the skills to build careers and businesses rooted in responsible fashion.
Beyond recognition, the competition nurtures global ambassadors advocating for ethical leather craftsmanship, driving industry-wide change.
Kerry Brozyna, President of the Leather & Hide Council of America, emphasized the need for sustainability in fashion.
