Makerere cements relationship with Yale University
Makerere University has signed an agreement with US university, Yale to strengthen their partnership and support a number of initiatives at Uganda's oldest university.
The agreement was signed by Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, the Makerere Vice Chancellor and Yale's vice president for Global Strategy, Lewis Pericles.

Pericles said Yale has been collaborating with Makerere University mainly the medical fields for over 15 years.
He added that the goal for both groups is to improve patient care through education, training, and research; to build up the educational and clinical infrastructure; and to support research that could be easily translated into practice. The vice chancellor makerere university
Nawangwe said more than 100 academic staff from Makerere travelled to YALE for further learning, research, mentorship and internship.
He said the agreement will increase Yale's visibility on the ground.
Yale has a fully-fledged office at the Medical School headed by Prof. Harriet Mayanja Kiiza.
Makerere also receives students from Yale to undertake their research and mentorship as well as internship.
Pericles trip is intended to support the Yale Africa Initiative (YAI), an ongoing effort by Yale to prioritise and expand upon its collaborations on the continent.
Through YAI, Yale continues to leverage the power of partnerships and global networks across the continent to produce remarkable outcomes in science, public health, business, and numerous other disciplines and industry sectors.
To date, the Makerere University-Yale University (MUYU) collaboration has been a resounding success.
