Kabale District leaders have commissioned a three-classroom block at Kansinga Primary School in Kaharo Sub-county, praising the contractor for delivering quality work.

The Shs189 million project was funded by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development under the Transitional Development Grant.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, District Education Officer Moses Tumwijukye Bwengye said the new classroom block would ease congestion that had forced Primary Three to Primary Five pupils to share overcrowded classrooms.

He said the district successfully lobbied the ministry for additional classroom space to address infrastructure challenges at the school and credited Drake Mutahakana, a native of Kaharo working at the ministry, for supporting the district's request.

Bwengye challenged the school administration, teachers, parents and the School Management Committee to use the improved learning environment to enhance academic performance.

"Kansinga Primary School was once among the top-performing schools in the sub-county but has since declined. With this new infrastructure, there must be renewed commitment to improving learners' performance," he said.

He also urged the school to properly maintain the facility to ensure it serves future generations of learners.

"I urge proper maintenance of the building to ensure it serves future learners," Bwengye added.

The classroom block was constructed by Famdec Enterprises.

Kabale District LCV Chairperson Denis Nzeirwe commended the contractor for the quality of the work but directed the company to improve drainage around the building to prevent water damage.

He said the investment in school infrastructure should translate into improved academic outcomes.

Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Michael Muramira Kyakashari also called for improved academic performance, recalling that the school last posted notable examination results when 16 candidates passed in Division Two.

"The contractor should install gutters to channel rainwater and protect the building," Kyakashari said.

District leaders said the additional classrooms will provide a more conducive learning environment and help improve education outcomes at Kansinga Primary School.
