Police in Kassanda District have launched investigations into the death of a five-year-old boy whose body was found several days after he was reported missing.

The child, identified as Imran Senyonjo, a resident of Lujinji village in Kijuna Sub-county, reportedly left home on April 28, 2026, at around 1:00 pm to play with other children but did not return.

According to family members, his mother, Doreen Namakula, began searching for him after he failed to return home and inquired with neighbours, who were unable to provide information about his whereabouts.

The matter was reported to police in Lujinji, and search efforts were initiated, including announcements through a local radio station, but these did not produce results.

Wamala Region Police Spokesperson SSP Lameck Kigozi said the body was later discovered in a nearby bush.

“During an intensified search, the mother found the body of the child not far from their home and alerted residents and authorities,” Kigozi said.

A homicide team from Kassanda Central Police Station visited the scene, documented evidence, and collected items found near the body for forensic examination.

Police have recorded statements from several individuals as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities have urged members of the public to share any relevant information that could assist with the inquiry while avoiding speculation.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.
