Nakapiripirit Man Kills Wife in Brutal Machete Attack

A man has killed his wife in a brutal machete attack in Looi village, Kakomongole Sub-county, Nakapiripirit District,

The victim, 35-year-old Regina Ilukol, succumbed to her injuries after her husband, Paul Lobong, allegedly slit her throat following a domestic altercation.

According to Tiyan Lokiru, a witness, Lobong who had been drinking heavily for several days returned home and found his wife resting after a long day of work.

A quarrel reportedly erupted inside the house, leading Regina to step outside, telling her husband that she was not ready for intimacy as she was still healing from childbirth.

Their baby is reportedly only two months old.

“She told him she was still weak and not ready for intimacy,” said Tiyan Lokiru, an eyewitness.

“He got angry and followed her outside with a machete. He chased her for about 20 meters before he cut her throat. It was terrifying.”

Residents who rushed to help say she bled profusely and died at the scene.

The suspect attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended by community members. He was handed over to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), who transported him to Loregae Police Station, where he is now in custody.

The Nakapiripirit District CID Officer, James Ngwije, visited the scene and confirmed that investigations into the incident are underway.

“We have the suspect in custody, and investigations are ongoing,” confirmed James Ngwije, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officer for Nakapiripirit District.

“This is a tragic incident, and we are working to ensure justice is served."

The community remains in shock, with many calling for justice and stronger efforts to address domestic violence in the region.
