KAMPALA — The Undersecretary and Accounting Officer at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Dr Sengonzi Damulira, has been recognised as Uganda's Public Finance Management Champion by Public Opinions in acknowledgement of his contribution to public financial management and national development.
The recognition was conferred under the Responsible Investment Global Award, an initiative by Public Opinions that honours individuals whose work has made a significant contribution to Uganda's socio-economic transformation.
Presenting the award, Public Opinions Team Leader Adam Buyinza Luzindana praised Dr Sengonzi for his commitment to public service and advancing the country's development agenda.
"Dr Sengonzi is a man committed to achieving the national development agenda and remains loyal to President Museveni," Buyinza said.
He credited Dr. Sengonzi with strengthening the integrity and efficiency of Uganda's public finance management system through reforms that promote accountability and effective stewardship of public resources.
"His efforts have been central to promoting budget transparency and advancing financial inclusion, ensuring that national financial strategies remain aligned with the broader goals of sustainable economic growth," Buyinza added.
Receiving the award, Dr Sengonzi expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to continue serving the country with dedication and professionalism.
He reaffirmed his commitment to diligently executing his responsibilities at the Ministry of Finance and ensuring that public resources are managed prudently to deliver tangible benefits to all Ugandans.
The award adds to Dr Sengonzi's profile as a senior public finance official whose work has been associated with efforts to strengthen fiscal management, accountability, and the efficient utilisation of public resources in support of Uganda's development objectives.
