Uganda is poised to win big,  following the second session of the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) between Uganda and Kenya in Kampala.

Among the many wins Uganda has collected  are Ugandan LPG gas cylinders that are set to  start crossing to Kenya and will no longer incur full CET 35% Levy.

Ugandan poultry  can  now access Kenyan market, courtesy of the Joint Ministerial Commission.

Uganda also requested Kenya to fully remove quotas on sugar and this seen an  increase metric tonnes from 36,000 to 90000 .

Also , Kenya is set to remove administrative restrictions on Ugandan milk.

This means  allowing Lato Milk  entry. Kenya is also set  to remove 5% excise duty on Ugandan sugar while pharmaceuticals from Uganda will fully access Kenya .

.Multiple fees charges on transit Ugandan tracks charged by Kenya Busia County will  immediately stop.

Kenya's request

Among the key requests made by Nairobi, is to allow Kenya tissue into Uganda, stop discriminatory charge of 18% VAT of Kenyan frozen chicken.

Grant Kenyan Pishori rice preferential treatment like any other originating rice from EAC, scrap excise duty charged on Kenyan juices.

The Kenyan Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, through his X handle revealed that “President Museveni is here for a three-day state visit, marking a significant step towards strengthening the fraternal bonds between our nations and fostering mutual prosperity and growth.”

It remains to be seen if Museveni and Ruto agree also agree to have the fuel importation deal case in which Uganda reported Kenya to the East African Court of Justice will be withdrawn

For over a year now, Kampala has lacked diplomatic representation at the highest level in Nairobi.

Following the passing of High Commissioner Wasswa, no replacement has been appointed, and this signals the chilly state of relations between the two capitals.
