Miss Tourism Uganda 2026 has officially been launched, unveiling new categories and a forward-looking theme aimed at expanding participation and promoting the country’s tourism potential.

The 14th edition of the flagship cultural pageant was launched on March 16, 2026, at Kampala Serena Hotel, marking the start of a nationwide search for a new tourism ambassador to represent Uganda, the Pearl of Africa.

Speaking at the launch, administrator Loice Namara Kalamuka said this year’s competition will run under the theme “AI, Tourism and Culture,” highlighting the integration of technology with cultural promotion.

“The theme reflects a forward-looking approach where innovation and heritage work together to position Uganda as a modern, sustainable, and culturally vibrant destination,” she said.

Namara noted that the pageant is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking young leader capable of telling Uganda’s tourism story on a global stage.

The competition will span 12 regions, including West Nile, Busoga, Buganda, Teso, and Ankole, ensuring broad national representation and showcasing the country’s diverse cultural identities.

A major highlight of this year’s edition is the introduction of the Miss Tourism Metro category, designed to embrace Ugandans of mixed heritage and promote inclusivity. Namara said the addition reflects Uganda’s evolving identity while maintaining a strong connection to its cultural roots.

The Man of Tourism category will also return for its second edition, continuing efforts to involve young men in championing tourism, conservation, and community development initiatives.

Registration for both categories is currently ongoing at Sheraton Kampala Hotel, with auditions scheduled for March 21 and April 4. The grand finale will take place on September 4, 2026, at Kampala Serena Hotel.

Participants will be assessed on their understanding of Uganda’s tourism sector, cultural awareness, communication skills, community engagement, and digital presence.

Reigning queen Cindy Kezia Nachap encouraged young women to take part, sharing how the platform transformed her journey from a regional contestant to the national titleholder.

“The pageant built my confidence and gave me international exposure, including representing Uganda in Malaysia,” she said.

Nachap urged eligible young women aged between 18 and 27 to seize the opportunity, describing the competition as a powerful platform for promoting Uganda’s tourism and cultural heritage globally.
