NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong brought the curtain down on the Yellow Book update exercise and registration of new members in his village of Te Acam, Nwoya district.

However, amidst the updates, Todwong announced that the contentious areas of Apaa and Tororo would be handled at the secretariat in Kampala due to boundary conflicts.

Accompanied by a convoy of boda boda riders, Todwong personally updated his details at Te Acam, Tangi ward, Purongo Town Council, affirming the importance of party members verifying their information.

"We have concluded the update exercise here in Te Acam, but due to boundary issues, we will finalize the process for Apaa and Tororo at the secretariat," stated Richard Todwong.

Despite efforts to encourage participation, reports surfaced of low turnout leading up to the final day of registration.

In response, registrars resorted to door-to-door visits in Purongo village and Parish to ensure maximum participation.

"We encountered challenges with low turnout, prompting us to conduct door-to-door visits to ensure no member was left behind," remarked Owachgiu Geoffrey, an NRM Registrar.

The Yellow Book update and registration of new members commenced on March 13, 2024, spanning across the country.

However, the task was not without its hurdles, particularly in areas with reported low turnout.

As the party strives to strengthen its grassroots support, the conclusion of the update exercise marks a significant step in ensuring an accurate and up-to-date membership registry.

With the contentious areas slated for resolution at the secretariat, the NRM remains committed to fostering unity and inclusivity within its ranks.
