Content creator Kyomuhangi Betnah, popularly known as Lord Elektra, has issued a public apology to Christine Nampeera Tendo and her family following a heated fallout that played out on social media.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Elektra offered what she described as a “sincere and unreserved apology” to Nampeera, her mother, and family, over remarks she had made “both directly and indirectly on social media.”
“Christine and I were in a public working arrangement as best friends, and nothing more,” Elektra said.
“Unfortunately, I allowed personal emotions to interfere with how I handled matters related to that arrangement,” she added.
Elektra admitted that the statements she shared online were made in anger and emotional pain, and were untrue.
“I intended to cause her pain and shame because I was also hurting at the time. I deeply regret this and insist that nothing of this sort has ever occurred,” she said.
The apology comes after days of tension following Elektra’s allegations against Nampeera on Snapchat—claims Nampeera described as defamatory, prompting her to pursue legal action. The dispute, which attracted wide public attention, reportedly resulted in Elektra spending a night in custody while investigations were underway.
Elektra said she now realises that the matter should have been handled privately instead of on social media.
“I now understand the impact my actions had on her personally, emotionally, and professionally,” she said, adding that she was retracting “all statements and implications” she had previously made about Nampeera that were not true.
She further committed to refraining from any future discussion about Nampeera or their past association.
“I commit to respecting Christine's privacy and dignity going forward, and I will not speak about her, reference her, or engage in any content (direct or indirect) relating to her or our past matters on any public or private platform,” Elektra said.
Responding to the apology, Nampeera said she had chosen to forgive but emphasised that the episode should serve as a warning.
“I hope this serves as a warning to anyone who thinks they can lie using my name and go unpunished because of my past. I now take my brand and my name seriously,” she said.
Nampeera added that while she would not pursue the matter further, safeguards had been put in place.
“I have chosen forgiveness this time, and I will not pursue this matter further. However, necessary legal steps have been taken to ensure this does not happen again,” she said.
She also warned against any future misuse of her name.
“Let this be the last time my name is used carelessly. I’m done playing.”
Elektra and Nampeera had previously portrayed themselves online as close friends, a public image that made their fallout and the subsequent exchange of statements a subject of intense public discussion.
Sharing a copy of the signed apology on social media, Nampeera said she hoped it serves as a warning to anyone who thinks they can lie using her name and go unpunished because of her past.
"I now take my brand and my name seriously," she said. "I have chosen forgiveness this time, and I will not pursue this matter further. Let this be the last time my name is used carelessly. I’m done playing."
