Police in Kayunga District have launched investigations after a young man was found dead inside his home in Kitimbwa Town Council, with local leaders calling for a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Residents of Kitimbwa Village in Kitimbwa Town Council, Kayunga District, have been left shocked following the death of a young man who was found dead inside his house in circumstances that police are investigating.

The deceased has been identified as Joel Mubiru, believed to have been between 26 and 28 years old.

According to local leaders, preliminary information suggests the death may have resulted from suicide by hanging, although authorities have not yet released official findings and investigations remain ongoing.

Speaking about the incident, Kitimbwa Town Council Mayor Yokana Muwereza expressed sorrow over the death and called for a comprehensive investigation to establish exactly what happened.

"We are deeply saddened by this incident. I appeal to the police to carry out comprehensive investigations to establish the exact cause of Joel's death," Muwereza said.

The mayor noted that some residents have speculated that challenges related to a motorcycle Joel reportedly operated as a boda-boda rider may have contributed to emotional distress before his death. However, he emphasized that such claims remain unverified.

Kitimbwa Town Council councillor Hope Nali, who knew the deceased, said she was shocked by the news and hoped investigations would provide answers.

"I recently spoke with Joel, and like everyone else, I am shocked by what has happened. We hope investigations will provide answers to the many questions surrounding his death," Nali said.

Residents described the incident as tragic and unsettling, saying they remain puzzled by the circumstances that led to the young man's death.

Joel's body was transferred to Kayunga General Hospital for a postmortem examination as police continue investigations in the presence of family members and relatives.

Authorities have urged members of the public to remain calm and allow investigators to establish the facts surrounding the incident before drawing conclusions.
