Fresh videos and photographs shared by members of the public have revealed additional suspects in the brutal mob killing of rugby player Sydney Gongodyo, as police announced the arrest of an 11th suspect.

Police have arrested an 11th suspect in the lynching of rugby player Sydney Gongodyo as fresh videos and photographs circulating online reveal more individuals allegedly involved in the deadly attack.

The latest suspect, Henry Kabugo, 21, a boda boda rider from Old Kira-Kisenyi, was arrested in Wandegeya during a joint operation involving police and boda boda leaders from Nakawa Division.

His arrest comes amid mounting public pressure for justice and an unprecedented citizen-led effort that has seen members of the public analyse videos, identify suspects and share information with investigators.

On Wednesday, activists and social media users released additional footage and images allegedly showing more participants in the June 5 attack, including one man who was reportedly seen holding what appeared to be a blood-stained knife believed to have been used during the mob assault.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, investigators identified Kabugo from video footage in which he is allegedly seen wearing a blue reflector jacket and concealing his face with a black hood.

The arrest follows those of Obed Mugwisa and Joseph Owino, a security guard, who were apprehended earlier this week after being identified through video evidence linked to the attack.

Police say Mugwisa was captured wearing a yellow T-shirt and carrying a large log during the assault. During interrogation, he reportedly led detectives to a laundry where he had taken the shirt after the attack. The garment has since been recovered and added to the growing body of evidence.
