In a bold move to support Africa’s next generation of executive leaders, Stanbic Bank and MultiChoice Uganda have joined forces to sponsor the official launch of the Journey to the C-Suite (JTC), a transformative leadership development program designed to empower high-potential mid-level professionals to ascend into strategic C-suite roles.

The prestigious launch was held at Skyz Hotel in Naguru, drawing together a distinguished audience of diplomats, senior executives, corporate leaders, and aspiring professionals for an evening centered on vision, mentorship, and leadership excellence.

Among the high-profile guests in attendance were Algerian Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Mourad Amokrane, Kenyan High Commissioner H.E. Joash Maangi, Capital Markets Authority CEO Josephine Ossiya, and Janet Navvuga Bugembe, the Founder of Journey to the C-Suite.

Ambassador Amokrane hailed the initiative as both timely and forward-thinking, noting its critical focus on nurturing mid-level professionals, often overlooked in traditional leadership development efforts.

“This program is timely and visionary,” he remarked. “It recognizes what many overlook—that the future of leadership lies not only in boardrooms or political offices but in the capable hands of mid-level professionals who are ready to rise.”

The program builds on the success of Journey to the Boardroom (JTB), a well-regarded initiative focusing on board governance and readiness. However, Journey to the C-Suite shifts focus to executive leadership growth, offering a rigorous three-month curriculum featuring strategic learning, mentorship, case studies, and executive presence development, all aimed at equipping participants for top roles such as CEO, CFO, and COO.

“If the boardroom is where vision is governed, the C-suite is where vision is born,” said Janet Navvuga Bugembe in her keynote address. “JTC exists for every brilliant leader in middle management who is underestimated—especially by themselves.”

The program’s tagline—Elevate. Lead. Thrive.—underscores its mission to cultivate empowered, purpose-driven leaders capable of driving institutional growth and innovation.

The evening featured remarks from Stanbic Bank and MultiChoice Uganda, an inspiring keynote by CMA CEO Josephine Ossiya, and a moment of recognition for the inaugural JTC cohort participants, who were commended by both ambassadors for their ambition and potential. The event concluded with high-level networking among Uganda’s top executives, thought leaders, and emerging professionals.

The launch marked the beginning of JTC’s first cohort, comprising a carefully selected group of mid-level professionals poised to become Africa’s next wave of transformative C-suite leaders.
