The Electoral Commission (EC) in Moroto has assured voters of a smooth and well-coordinated local government election, citing full preparedness and improved logistical arrangements.
Speaking at the EC offices in Moroto, District Election Administrator Esther Ajwang said the Commission has already received all ballot boxes for the 118 polling stations across the district. She emphasized that the timely delivery of election materials is key to ensuring a seamless voting process.
“We are fully prepared for the elections. All ballot boxes for the 118 polling stations are already in place,” Ajwang said, adding that polling officials have been briefed to ensure professionalism and transparency on polling day.
Moroto Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Benon Kwikiriza, assured residents that the election will be conducted in a peaceful environment.
He said security personnel have been strategically deployed to safeguard the entire process—from voting to tallying and announcing results.
“We have put in place adequate security measures to ensure the electoral process is not interfered with at any stage,” Kwikiriza said.
Moroto recently earned praise for conducting one of the smoothest elections in the region, with a transparent voting exercise and timely results.
The district was also among the fastest in the Karamoja sub-region to declare results.
The upcoming elections will see candidates competing for positions including District Chairperson, Mayoral seat, and councilors.
Officials expressed confidence that these elections will build on the district’s strong track record and further strengthen public trust in the electoral process.
