NRM Launches Full-Scale Grassroots Mobilisation in Ntungamo
The ruling party’s flag bearers in Ntungamo District have kicked off an intensive mobilisation drive, relying on village, parish, and sub-county structures to secure what they describe as an “over 99% win” for President Yoweri Museveni and NRM candidates in next month’s general elections.

NRM flag bearers in Ntungamo District have embarked on a district-wide grassroots campaign aimed at securing overwhelming support for President Museveni and all NRM candidates ahead of the January 15, 2026 general elections.

The mobilisation follows the official handover of party flags to all candidates, marking the start of what party leaders describe as an extraordinary drive to galvanise voters.

Rushenyi County MP and NRM flag bearer Naome Kabasharira said the campaign will leverage the party’s entrenched grassroots networks, which will be held accountable for voter turnout and protection.

“We want to start, go to the community and continue mobilizing them and inform them that we are flag bearers and they need to vote for President Museveni and the flag bearers of NRM,” she said.

Kabasharira added that her campaign will focus on educating voters about the ruling party’s achievements and the next steps outlined in the NRM manifesto.

“The people of Rushenyi should wait for me to tell them the gains they should protect and what is next to add on the gains so that they can be expanded. I have the manifesto for NRM and I am going to explain to them so that they can vote knowing what they are voting for,” she explained.

Kabasharira also urged voters not to expect monetary handouts, stressing that the law prohibits giving money during elections.

“These elections you don’t expect any money which will be given. It will only be money for facilitation to buy water. This time round the money issue might not occur. People have been removed from Parliament for giving even three bags of cement in church,” she cautioned.

In Ruhaama County, NRM flagbearer Beatrice Rwakimari said all grassroots cadres are being activated to ensure full voter turnout.

“Our task now is to start serious mobilization using our NRM structures from the grassroots. The 60 people at the grassroots as well as structures at parish and sub-county level. We are going to move parish by parish mobilizing and sensitizing our people to come and vote on 15th January so that we get the 100%,” Rwakimari said.

“Once they are sensitised and facilitated, we have no doubt we will get 100% for the President and all flag bearers.”

Ntungamo RDC Miriam Kagaiga encouraged voters to translate the large turnout at President Museveni’s recent rally into votes.

“On 15th January let’s vote President Yoweri Museveni and all flag bearers. As the big crowds who turned up for the President’s campaign rally, let’s embrace this support and carry it to the ballot,” she said. She commended the party structures for their groundwork in mobilising voters across the district.

Kajara County NRM flag bearer James Hunter appealed to residents to remain aligned with the ruling party, warning against supporting independents and opposition candidates.

“Let’s cooperate in this season and show support. Don’t bring here opposition or independents. Ntungamo District is a vast district, as highlighted during the President Museveni campaign rally, and therefore the services will be based on the population size,” Hunter said.

The NRM leadership in Ntungamo says the intensified mobilisation, now fully in the hands of grassroots structures, is aimed at ensuring that every village, parish, and constituency delivers a decisive win for the ruling party on January 15.
