Sheikh Kamoga confesses: "My heart has been full of hate. Now it's filled with love"

The head of Jumiat Dawa Al Salafiya, Sheikh Muhammad Yunus Kamoga, has told the Muslims in Bunyoro- Toro region that he has for long been living with hatred in heart which almost ruined his life for over decades.

Kamoga who was in the company of the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje and other sheikhs were sensitising Muslims in this region in their effort aimed at uniting Muslims across the country.

He asked Muslims to drop hatred against other Muslims due to various Islamic theological interpretations, adding that Muslims should always remain focused and united so as to develop Islam as a region.

"I had a lot hatred but after deep thoughts, I realized I was ageing yet our Prophet Muhammad says that in case of misunderstanding between believers, they should reconcile within three days. Unfortunately, I have for long ignored those teachings leading to the hatred that had lived for decades," said Kamoga.

Kamoga was in 2017 sentenced to life in prison over the murder of various Muslim clerics. In 2020, the sentence was quashed upon appeal.

Mubaje expressed gratitude to the Muslims in Bunyoro- Toro region for restoring sanity and calm among the faithful following the sharp disputes that erupted leading to the removal of Sheikh Muhammad Irumba, the former regional assistant to the Mufti due to indiscipline.

The UMSC secretary general Ramadhan Mugalu reminded Muslims that there is no loss when they unite.

Sheikh Ibrahim Mabanja, the Kadhi of Bunyoro Muslim district thanked UMSC for forging the inter religious spirit that has cemented good cooperation with other faith groups.
