"Your loud mouth landed you in trouble," Mubaje tells NRM's Kitatta

The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has said that Abdallah Kitatta, a political activist and former Patron of Boda Boda 2010 landed in trouble because of speaking out his mind.

Mubaje made the remarks while commissioning a new Mosque built by Kitatta in Nakasajja trading centre along the Gayaza- Kayunga Road.

Kitatta, a confidant of former IGP Gen Kale Kayihura, was arrested in 2018 over possession of military hardware.

He was sentenced by the General Court Martial to 10 years before he was pardoned by President Museveni in the run up to the 2021 elections.

Quoting the saying of Prophet Muhammad, which says that whoever builds a Mosque in this earthly life, Allah in acceptance of this deed, will build for him or her a mansion in paradise, Mubaje explained that the prophetic saying matched well with Kitatta's benevolent act of constructing the place of worship.

He said the Inter-religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) visited Kitatta at Makindye Military barracks because they sympathised with him.

Mubaje urged Muslims in the area to utilise the mosque for the constant worship of Allah and spiritual nourishment.

On his part, Kitatta thanked the mufti for standing with him during his troubled times.
