The National Resistance Movement (NRM) national treasurer, Rose Namayanja Nsereko has revealed that government has accepted to accord Mathias Kasamba an official burial.
The revelation was made during the burial organising committee meeting held at Pope Paul Memorial Hotel in Rubaga on Wednesday afternoon.
Namayanja said Kasamba has been a sitting member of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), a director at NRM secretariat, a former MP and a citizen of high reputation, adding that these among others have earned him an official burial from the government.
Namayanja stated that the central region CEC Member and minister of State for Tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi had been designated by the government to chair the burial committee.
Burial will be on Friday April 30, 2021 at the deceased’s home at Katovu Village, Kakuuto County in Kyotera district at 4pm.
Kasamba died on Tuesday at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala where he had been admitted for three days.
Kasamba was elected to represent Uganda in EALA’s fourth assembly (2017- 2022).
Prior to that, he had served as Kakuuto County MP in the 8th and 9th Parliaments.
