Rubaga North Member of Parliament,Moses Kasibante, has criticised members of the National Unity Platform(NUP) electoral committee as immature after they handed their flag to Abubaker Kawalya ahead of him.

Kasibante was part of a group of DP members who crossed to NUP in August.

Speaking to the journalists on Saturday in Kampala, Kasibante accused the NUP EC of assigning party flags to candidates who are enemies of change.

He said NUP decision to deny him a party flag is unfortunate adding that there was an unfair and poor vetting process.

"The process only limited us to vetting in determining candidates of various positions of leadership, the challenges are enormous but the solutions were not there,"he said.

Kasibante claimed that NUP is infiltrated by the people who are opposed to the struggle.

"Abubakar Kawalya is a devil and an intruder from NRM who was even supported by government during his speakership of KCCA. Agents of NRM are everywhere, some of them are putting on red,"he said.

“The vetting process was prone to infiltration by agents of the devil we are fighting," he added.

Kasibante said that he will seek reelection as an independent as it has been the case in the past

“I have therefore formed the decision to petition the constituency of Rubaga North by again standing as an independent. In this I will not be standing against a NUP candidate called Kawalya [Abubaker] but against an intruder”he said.

Joel Ssenyonyi, the spokesperson of NUP said it's not true that the party has given the flag to an NRM agent in Rubaga North adding that the party is still new.

“Whether they say there is a mole in the committee, let them bring their petitions. Even Hon Moses Kasibante just joined the party ,so there are people who came from NRM,DP ,FDC.We welcome everybody to join us,"he said.

Meanwhile, Makindye Ssabagabo MP, Emmanuel Kigozi Ssempala told the media in Kampala that he is considering petitioning the party leadership, on why he was denied the party flag, months after joining from DP.

“I have brought my petition to the NUP headquarters and specifically to know exactly what happened. I have not heard any official communication [from NUP] and it is raising tempers in the community,"he said.
