Opinion: Does Bobi Wine practice what he preaches?

According to Matthew 7:16, the Lord says, “By their fruits we shall recognise them, do people pick grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?"

This verse reveals about people who pretend to be good amidst others but in the long run, their true colours can be exposed that they don’t mean what they say.

This bible verse automatically connects me to what is rotating at the National Unity Platform most especially to their top leader, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine.

For almost 15 years, Bobi Wine has been a critic of President Museveni directly and indirectly through his music but when he became a Member of Parliament, the situation worsened.

Since his entry into Parliament, Bobi’s message has been portraying President Museveni as a dictator, NRM government led by the old people who have obstructed his generation from swinging into leadership positions.

When Bobi and his People Power members graduated from a pressure group to a political party we thought that he would walk the talk but to my surprise, Bobi seems to be more of a dictator and a person who does not practice what he preaches.

Bobi says that President Museveni has only employed his family members but when you try to understand NUP management, you can discover that this is a family tree management who are planning to find themselves into parliament where two of his brothers are contesting right now.

If Bobi meant what he preaches, he would have stopped his brothers from contesting so that he becomes an exemplary leader who does not support his family members to yearn for political positions.

We were all shocked to see the NUP leadership committee endorsing Latif Ssebagala as their flag bearer in the lord mayorship race leaving his longtime friend and generation member, Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleon in misery.

When he challenged the NRM government over the old leaders, we all thought that the first priority in NUP leadership will be for the young guns most especially his generation but to our surprise, this has not been the case.

In NUP those who work tirelessly like Muhammed Ssegirinya will be left outside and then Bobi goes with Sulaiman Kidandala.

This move by Bobi to endorse aged leaders leaves us with no option but to remain with President Museveni who promotes peace and stability, visionary, developmental, patriotic, hardworking, experienced and who loves Uganda, Africa and the entire world.
